Midwestern Harvest

...We were intrigued by reissue 78's, but somewhat perplexed that almost none of them contained musicians from the Midwest and Illinois in particular. We heard field recordings that people were doing in the Appalachian area and knew that there must be old time music in Illinois. During the 1970's, we scoured the plains and hills of central and southern Illinois in search of older musicians. We were trying to find musicians that would have learned the majority of their music before radio became widespread. We were very fortunate to meet many fine old time musicians in our journeys. Let it be known that the "lion's share" of the work was done by Garry Harrison, and I wish to thank him for a job well done.
